Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what personal information MyFam collects, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet Apple App Store and Google Play requirements that apps provide a clear, publicly accessible privacy policy covering user and device data practices.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Winsanity Studios(“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the MyFam mobile application (the “App”) on iOS and Android, and related services, including our website at myfam-app.com (together, the “Services”).

MyFam is a daily check in safety app. You schedule check ins so people you trust know you are okay. If you miss a check in window (including any grace period), we can notify the emergency contacts you add.

By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following categories.

2.1 Account and identity information

When you register or sign in, we may collect:

  • Name or display name
  • Email address
  • Password (for email or password accounts). Passwords are stored only as a one way hash; we do not store your password in plain text
  • Social sign in identifiers and basic profile details (such as name and email) if you sign in with Google, Apple, or another supported sign in provider
  • Optional phone number and profile photo, if you provide them
  • Email verification and password reset codes we generate

2.2 Check in schedule and activity

  • Your check in schedule (for example preferred check in time, frequency, grace period, and reminder preferences)
  • Check in records (timestamps, day keys, checked in or missed status, and related response timing)
  • Alert status related to missed check ins (for example whether a warning or critical alert was already sent for a given day)

2.3 Emergency contacts you add

You may add emergency contacts manually in the App. We store the information you enter, which may include:

  • Name
  • Email address (required for alerts)
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Relationship and notes

We do not access your device address book unless you choose to enter contact details yourself. When you add a contact, we may email that person to let them know they were added as your emergency contact.

2.4 Gamification and in app progress

To power streaks, levels, quests, and trophies, we store progress data tied to your account, such as XP, level, streak counts, total check ins, quest progress, and trophies earned.

2.5 Device and notification information

  • Permission to show local check in reminders on your device (handled by the operating system on iOS and Android)
  • Push notification device tokens, platform, and optional device name if your device is registered for remote notifications
  • Authentication tokens stored securely on your device so you can stay signed in

2.6 Technical and usage information

Our servers may automatically process limited technical information needed to operate and secure the Services, such as IP address, request timestamps, app or API error logs, and similar diagnostics. We do not currently use third party analytics or advertising SDKs in the App.

2.7 Information we do not collect by default

The App is not designed to continuously track your GPS location, read SMS or call logs, or scrape your device contacts. Check ins are user initiated actions within the App.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you
  • Provide the core MyFam service: schedules, check ins, streaks, quests, trophies, and related in app features
  • Send or schedule reminders so you can check in on time
  • Notify your emergency contacts by email if you miss a check in window (including warning and critical alerts)
  • Send service emails such as email verification, password reset, and emergency contact invitations
  • Respond to support requests and improve reliability and safety
  • Protect against abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access, and comply with legal obligations

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below.

4.1 Emergency contacts you choose

If you miss a scheduled check in (after your grace period, and again for critical follow up alerts), we email the emergency contacts you added. Those emails may include your display name and the fact that you missed a check in, so they can try to reach you. When you add a contact, we may also email them an invitation stating that you added them and their listed relationship to you.

4.2 Service providers

We use trusted providers who process data on our behalf to run the Services, for example:

  • Cloud hosting and database infrastructure
  • Email delivery (SMTP) for verification, resets, and alerts
  • Object storage for profile images, if you upload one
  • Sign in providers such as Google or Apple, if you choose social sign in (authentication is handled under that provider's terms and privacy policy)
  • Apple, Google, or other push or notification infrastructure when remote notifications are used

These providers are permitted to use your information only to provide services to us, subject to appropriate contractual and technical safeguards.

4.3 Legal and safety

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of users, the public, or Winsanity Studios.

4.4 Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to continued confidentiality commitments.

5. App permissions

Depending on your device and settings, MyFam may request permission to:

  • Notifications to show local check in reminders and (where enabled) remote notifications
  • Photos / media (optional) only if you choose to upload a profile photo

You can deny or later revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features (for example reminders) may not work without the related permission.

6. Data retention

We retain account, check in, contact, and gamification data for as long as your account remains active and as needed to provide the Services. We may keep limited records after account closure where required for security, dispute resolution, backups, or legal compliance, and then delete or anonymize them when no longer needed.

Password reset and email verification codes are temporary and expire after a short period.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including hashed passwords, authenticated API access with tokens, and secure on device storage for session tokens. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for the devices you use to access MyFam.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and associated personal data
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Object to or restrict certain processing

You can update much of your profile, schedule, and emergency contact information directly in the App. To request account deletion or other privacy rights, email us at support@myfam-app.com from the email address associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

You can also stop receiving MyFam alerts as an emergency contact by asking the MyFam user who added you to remove you, or by contacting us at support@myfam-app.com.

9. Children's privacy

MyFam is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact support@myfam-app.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. International users

We may process and store information on servers located in countries other than where you live. Those countries may have different data protection laws. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in such locations as needed to operate MyFam.

11. Third party services and links

If you use Google Sign In, Sign in with Apple, or follow links to third party sites or app stores, those services are governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for third party practices.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy. For material changes, we may provide additional notice in the App or by email where appropriate.
